THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

‘Twas the night before Christmas
And, all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a…. ‘

Except someone is. Jake, 7, is in the living room, in front of the fireplace, next the Christmas tree with all the presents stacked around it. He’s waiting… and waiting…

Then, finally too tired to keep his eyes open, he creeps over to the mince pie that he and his mother left out for Santa and takes a big bite. Realising he probably shouldn’t have done that, he hastily reassembles what’s left of the pie and makes for the door.

Then he hears a sound, coming from the chimney…
